June is the official start of summer, bringing us longer days and warmer weather. If you're looking for ways to make the most of your summer days in Charlotte NC, take some inspiration from our 2025 Summer Bucket List.

 

Stroll Through a Local Market 

Front Porch Sundays

Spend your Sunday morning shopping the work of 90+ local vendors with goods ranging from handmade jewelry, to art, to pottery, to food, and more! Every first Sunday of the month. 

 Nebel’s Alley Night Market

Shop 30+ local vendors, enjoy live music, and grab dinner or dessert from one of the many dining options Southend has to offer every second Saturday of the month! 

Camp North End Farmers Market 

Browse 20+ local farmers and crafters each Thursday from 4pm-8pm! Enjoy the live music and grab a bite to eat from the local restaurants Camp North End has to offer!

Southend Farmers Market 

Rain or shine, you can take a stroll through Atherton from 8am-1pm every Saturday to browse products of local farmers and artists! 

Mecklenburg County Farmers Market

This family-owned farmers market has been serving Charlotte organic produce for 80 years! Visit any day of the week until 6pm.

Charlotte Regional Farmers Market

Shop local produce, plants, flowers, crafts and more Wednesday-Sunday from 8am-5pm! 

 

Take a Beach Trip

One of the best parts of living in Charlotte is the proximity to the beach! There are several amazing North Carolina beaches within 4 hours of Charlotte (Ocean Isle Beach, Wrightsville Beach, Sunset Beach, Carolina Beach to name a few). We’re also located close to incredible South Carolina beaches, like Myrtle Beach, Kiawah Island & Seabrook Island, and Hilton Head Island.

Grab Some Ice Cream

No better way to cool down during these hot summer days than with some locally owned ice cream! For award winning ice cream, head to Two Scoops Creamery with locations in Plaza Midwood, Southend, Lake Norman, Rock Hill and Concord. The Local Scoop makes delicious ice cream from locally sourced ingredients with locations in Ballantyne, Matthews, and Montford. If you are exploring the new Ballantyne Bowl, make a stop at Honeysuckle Gelato for incredible gelato and sorbet. Golden Cow Creamery is locally owned and offers unique flavors made from scratch right here in Charlotte, with locations in Uptown, SouthPark, and SouthEnd. And for those of us with dietary restrictions, Seemingly Overzealous is a new spot with locations in Camp North End and Plaza Midwood with a completely Vegan and Gluten Free menu! 

Visit a Local Winery 

There are several wineries within a couple hours from Charlotte. You can visit the wine estate of former NASCAR driver Richard Childress Vineyards in Lexington, rent a treehouse or attend a wine tasting at Treehouse Vineyards in Monroe, or travel 30 minutes outside of Charlotte to Veronet Vineyards Friday-Sunday for tasting flights and a view of Crowders Mountain!

Discover Charlotte’s Museums 

Whether you’re looking to appreciate art and culture at The Mint Museum or Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, brush up on your history at the Levine Museum of the New South, or a bit of both at the Harvey B. Gantt Center,  Charlotte has many museums for different experiences. For an even more unique experience, visit the Museum of Illusions to see their mind blowing exhibitions! 

Spend Time Outdoors

Take a stroll on a Greenway 

Charlotte is full of several beautiful greenways for running, biking, or a casual stroll! Some of our favorites are Anne Springs Close. Greenway, Four Mile Creek Greenway, and Mcalpine Creek Greenway.

Go Swimming at Carrigan Farms 

Cool down with a refreshing swim in the quarry, followed by a delicious meal at their restaurant.

Go for a hike

Travel about an hour outside of Charlotte to Crowders Mountain for a variety of trails and beautiful views, or keep it local with the trails at Latte Plantation Nature Preserve.

Celebrate the 4th of July

Fourth of July Celebration at the Whitewater Center

Celebrate America in Symphony Park 

Join Charlotte Symphony on June 29th for a night of patriotic favorites, American classics, and a firework show finale! Bring your friends and family for this exciting annual tradition.

Attend a festival 

Taste of Charlotte Food Festival 

From June 6th-June 8th, visit Charlotte's largest food festival! Explore a variety of foods from the Charlotte area, as well as performances and entertainment! Admission is free.

Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas

Join the reflection of African American history and celebration of African American culture with a series of speakers and performances from June 12th-15th in Plaza Midwood. 

Queen's Feast: Summer Edition

Also known as Charlotte Restaurant Week, explore over 100 Charlotte area restaurants as they offer 3 course dinners from July 18th-July 27th! This is a popular event in Charlotte, so reservations are recommended.

Viva La Fiesta

Visit Carowinds for a celebration of different cultures and traditions. Immerse yourself in exciting live entertainment, a variety of authentic dishes, and fun activities, all while experiencing your favorite rides and attractions! 

Charlotte Pride

Celebrate love with a variety of celebratory events during Charlotte Pride Week from August 8th-August 15th, including a parade and festival on August 16th-17th! Festival & parade are free to attend.

The Amp at Ballantyne Bowl

Dance the night away at The Amp Ballantyne with one of three live performances planned for the summer!
