One of the best parts of living in Charlotte is the proximity to the beach! There are several amazing North Carolina beaches within 4 hours of Charlotte (Ocean Isle Beach, Wrightsville Beach, Sunset Beach, Carolina Beach to name a few). We’re also located close to incredible South Carolina beaches, like Myrtle Beach, Kiawah Island & Seabrook Island, and Hilton Head Island.
No better way to cool down during these hot summer days than with some locally owned ice cream! For award winning ice cream, head to Two Scoops Creamery with locations in Plaza Midwood, Southend, Lake Norman, Rock Hill and Concord. The Local Scoop makes delicious ice cream from locally sourced ingredients with locations in Ballantyne, Matthews, and Montford. If you are exploring the new Ballantyne Bowl, make a stop at Honeysuckle Gelato for incredible gelato and sorbet. Golden Cow Creamery is locally owned and offers unique flavors made from scratch right here in Charlotte, with locations in Uptown, SouthPark, and SouthEnd. And for those of us with dietary restrictions, Seemingly Overzealous is a new spot with locations in Camp North End and Plaza Midwood with a completely Vegan and Gluten Free menu!
There are several wineries within a couple hours from Charlotte. You can visit the wine estate of former NASCAR driver Richard Childress Vineyards in Lexington, rent a treehouse or attend a wine tasting at Treehouse Vineyards in Monroe, or travel 30 minutes outside of Charlotte to Veronet Vineyards Friday-Sunday for tasting flights and a view of Crowders Mountain!
Whether you’re looking to appreciate art and culture at The Mint Museum or Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, brush up on your history at the Levine Museum of the New South, or a bit of both at the Harvey B. Gantt Center, Charlotte has many museums for different experiences. For an even more unique experience, visit the Museum of Illusions to see their mind blowing exhibitions!
